Just off Enough

Taryn hesitated on the balls of his feet, wondering how there could be so much hazard in the cut of a smile. Then he realized the grin wasn’t quite normal, it stretched too far, showed a few too many teeth. His feet responded before he fully registered the not quite rightness of the person in front of him. He found himself sprinting down the street, dodging people as best he could. He glanced back once, the man was gliding silently behind him. No one paid him any attention, almost like they didn’t see him at all.
